LIFEWORKS(TM) MODEL

 

The LIFEWORKS(TM) Model was originally formulated to focus on providing unemployed and underemployed women with the opportunities to break the glass ceiling and to ultimately become economically self-sufficient to leave a marketplace legacy for generations to come. These effective combinations will allow Gloria Barksdale Enterprises, LLC to implement an 18 to 36-month educational program to include a multifaceted, customized program of study or set a plan for application of skills training to groom participants in area(s) they desire to pursue. The LIFEWORKS(TM) Model is broken down into the following:

 

  • (L) Literacy: includes, but is not limited to: computer literacy, reading, writing, GED preparation, ABE preparation, SAT preparation, and financial literacy.

  • (I) Instructional Technology: Keyboarding, basic PC instruction, Microsoft Office training & certification, including all major information technology training academies offering an onsite testing facility for certification testing upon course completion.

  • (F) Family Life Education: Abstinence, love/marriage, budgeting, planning family meals, childcare, table etiquette, and care of the home.

  • (E)  Entertainment: focus on the aspirations of those who are interested in a career in music, singing, dance or any of the arts (painting, photography, journalism, writing stories for magazines, etc.)  We have various connections with music studios, production organizations that will assist in guidelines for the onset of such careers.

  •  (W) Woman’s World: This area will focus on “traditional” women’s occupations such as interior decorating, fashion designing, cosmetology, beauticians, modeling, housekeeping, daycare provisions, etc. Arts & Crafts:  This course will also show participants how to use their hands for growth in the area of self-esteem, relaxation mediation, creativity, flower arranging, painting and photography.

  • (O) Out of the Ordinary: This area will focus on “nontraditional” occupations, such as landscaping, veterinarian, bricklaying, gardening, carpentry, electrical work and other activities based on the needs of requests of the participants. Dental: This is a workshop that will inform and teach participants the mechanics of preventive maintenance.  The importance of care for each tooth; how to brush; how to floss, how to rinse and why we need to learn and practice good habits.  The participants will also learn how to share these good habits with friends and family. Auto Repair: This workshop will teach participants how to be a little independent in preventive maintenance on vehicles.  It will provide career opportunities for interest participants.  Participants will have on-the-job training in how to check all vehicle fluids, and to change oil and lube.  This workshop will familiarize the participants with different belts, parts and the average cost of vehicle repairs.  The participants will learn how to check the vehicle to see what is needed as well as how to shop for parts.

  • (R) Recreational:  This area focuses on physical activities such as tennis, physical therapy, massage therapy, aerobics, swimming and other related recreational activities based on the requests of the participants; will also include:  Health, Wellness, Exercise, Dancing, Sports, Music, Singing, including Fine Arts and Drama.

  • (K) KitchenWorks: This area focuses on those interested in an area that ranges from table etiquette to the culinary arts.  Simple tasks from the setting of the table, to preparing regular meals, preparing special dietary meals, and catering opportunities will be provided.  Cooking/Culinary Arts This course will introduce participants to the world of commercial and home food preparation.  It will explore the variety of cooking, food sanitation, food storage and procedures.  It will also show the advantages and disadvantages of the use of commercial and home equipment use, cleaning and safety.

  • (S) SoulWork: This area will begin with sessions on self-esteem, relationship with self, relationship with others, emotional well-being, mental well-being, physical well-being and growth to studies concerning spiritual growth and establishing a relationship with their spiritual selves. Bible courses will be offered for those who are interested in pursuing certification or graduation in biblical studies HOSTED by House of Faith Restoration Ministries. Another affiliate company, Lets DDDANCE (Detect & Demolish Domestic Abuse N Communities Everywhere) Ministries, also owned by Gloria Barksdale Enterprises and other affiliates and collaborative organizations will be subcontracted to provide services to women who are victims of domestic violence.
